Some of you have been asking about the collections I have been working on, so I thought I'd give you an update. Truth be told, I am coming out of the hardest year of my life, after my Mom's passing, with new understanding, and a renewed sense of adventure and drive to push my passion forward into new territory. I plan on making this new year a smashing success and I think you'll enjoy coming along for the ride. ;-)
One collection I have been working on is California Beaches. Being a California "dude" and having surfed for most of my life, I have an intimate connection with the Pacific Ocean and a lot of knowledge of secret spots. This collection will never really be done, as I plan on shooting beaches for the rest of my life, but you will see a preview within the year.
I started blurring photos a couple of years ago (in camera) and I love the technique. It creates sort of a surreal, abstract value and allows you to draw the viewer's attention quickly to what's important. More on this to come.
Similar to the California Beaches project, the Los Angeles book project is one that's dear to my heart. I feel that my take on LA is unique, not only because it's my home, but my photography style, as I'm told, shows the energy and beauty of the city in a new way.
If you recall, my Sacred Waterfalls book came out right before my Mom passed. While the book got finished, the behind the scenes film didn't. I'm working on showing you guys all the drone footage and interviews that you never got to see.
A little help from my friends?
These projects are very resource consuming, so don't be surprised if you see me start some sort of crowdfunding campaign in 2018.
